Set Free But Not Adrift

A certain university brought back its oldest alumni at the age of 96.
He was asked if he would like to speak to the stundents.  He said, "Yes!"
And I thought, "Good Heavens, he'll be longer than I am!"
They draped him over the pulpit and he looked out over the students and said,
"I would like to thank my alma mater for setting me free without setting me adrift."
And he set down.

I want to be set free!  Not adrift!
And in that freedom I think I can find life.
