Inglenook Cookbook: For Sleeplessness

When you are too tired to sleep, which is the most distressing of the many forms of sleeplessness, a cold sponge bath will often stimulate you just enough to let you fall asleep naturally.
Or, if your sleeplessness is caused by thoughts crowding in upon you as thick and fast -- more so as you struggle against them -- try putting your feet in hot water and keeping them there for full ten minutes.
By that time you will be relaxed and able "to turn off your think," which is the pleasant prelude to sleep.
