The Small Things

...I want to talk to you today about the small things. Specifically, doing the small things in life well. Today's world only wants us to focus on and celebrate the big things. The world records, the championships, the monumental achievements. But most of us live our day-to-day lives amongst the small things. And I contend that doing the small things consistently well is monumentally more significant than any world championship ring. The things we faithfully do each day, when no one notices or sees or praises, are the true underpinnings of a whole and meaningful life. The simple tasks of changing a diaper, or taking out the trash, or lending a hand to a needy neighbor, are opportunities to faithfully serve God.

Oswald Chambers said, "My personal life may be crowded with small, petty happenings, altogether insignificant. But if I obey Jesus Christ in the seemingly random circumstances of life, they become pinholes through which I see the face of God."

I encourage you today to do the small things well.
