Lois Clark Honored

South Bend honored educator and volunteer Lois Clark on Monday for her contribution to peace and human rights.
Clark was given the 2013 F. Jay Nimtz Exemplary Public Service award Monday afternoon at the Martin Youth Center.
For almost four decades, Clark has impacted children as the Parent and Community Involvement Coordinator for Head Start.
She also introduced United Nations International Peace Day to South Bend in 2007.
“We really are a government of the people, by the people and for the people, so let’s get at it,” said Clark. “We are here to prepare the road for our children. Not to do things for them, but to free them up to do a better job than we are doing.”
