Easter Monday

Today is Easter Monday!  We move on from the Easter worship services and other traditions.  We have the opportunity to share the message, "Christ is alive!"  Some congregations will hold special Easter Monday celebrations filled with joy and humor today.  Others will celebrate a "Holy Humor Sunday" next Sunday.

Another pastor remarked yesterday to those who filled the sanctuary on Easter Sunday:  "I'm very glad to see so many of you here for Easter services, and since many of you will not be here again until next Easter, I want to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas."

According to the Fellowship of Merry Christians, early Christians went to church on Easter Monday to frolic, tell clean jokes, play merry pranks on one another, to sing and dance, and to have a lot of fun.  Easter Monday also was a day of rest, relaxation, and special activities.  Easter Monday was observed as a "Day of Joy and Laughter" to celebrate the practical joke that God played on Satan by raising Jesus from the dead.

So enjoy the day - It is Easter Monday!
