Saturday Smile

Two friends who hadn't seen each other in years met in a supermarket one afternoon and brought each other up to date on the successes of their families.

One lady said, "And tell me, Ruth, how is your son, George?"

"He's getting along fine," she said. "He's a poet. He just received his master's degree in literature from the university."

"And what about Mary?" the first lady asked.

"She's just as smart as George," her friend replied, "She graduated last year from college with a degree in modern art."

"Oh, yes," the first lady said, "and how is little Willy? What is he doing?"

"Well," said Ruth, "Willie is still Willie.  He wouldn't go to college. He said he likes to work with his hands. He became a plumber. And I want to tell you this. If it weren't for Willy, we'd all be starving."
