Monday Mini-Sermon

Jesus was a travelin’ man – teaching and preaching and healing the sick. And in every community he saw the crowds in need of spiritual and physical healing. And Jesus had compassion for the people – he took time to address their needs whether that meant proclaiming the Good News of God’s Kingdom, healing the sick, or feeding fish and bread to crowds of 5,000. Jesus saw people who were hurting, harassed, and helpless. They were lost on their journey through life like sheep without a shepherd.

"The harvest is plentiful," Jesus said to his disciples, "but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."

There was more "harvest work" to be done than Jesus could do alone. He was in the process of training disciples so this ministry might continue beyond his lifetime on this earth.
