The Budget - the Amish Newspaper

The Budget out of Sugarcreek, Ohio, is known locally, nationally and internationally as the Amish Newspaper. Established in 1890. The Budget’s National Edition publishes a collection of “Letters” written by Amish and Mennonite scribes representing their communities throughout the United States (primarily Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania) and also Canada, Central and South Americas, and overseas.

Online you will find highlights of our weekly Local Edition coverage. Out of respect for our 116-year relationship with our Amish and Mennonite writers, readers and friends, the National Edition remains available only in its printed format. It is available for purchase at several locations in the Northern Indiana Amish community.

The United Methodist Reporter blog recently had a paragraph on The Budget, including a threatened strike if plans to put the national edition online. This weekly print newspaper continues to do we while other newspapers are struggling in the current economy.
