A Knee-Bending Lifestyle

Just in time for Maundy Thursday and the Brethren Love Feast, with its service of feetwashing, comes this article by Larry Greenfield, "Knee-Bending Lifestyle Places Others Before Self."

Greenfield, who is the executive minister for the American Baptist Churches of Metro Chicago, suggests that sacrificial love is the ultimate dimension of reality. He addes that knee-bending is not so much a ritual but a freely chosen physical sign of discipleship.

On this Maundy Thursday evening, as many pause to reflect on the life and teachings of Jesus - and as some choose to participate in washing feet, let it be more for us than a religious tradition of ritual and more a freely chosen sign of our discipleship.
