Saturday Smile

King Duncan tells the story of a little Jewish woman named Mrs. Rosenberg
who, many years ago, found herself alone at a fashionable resort on Cape Cod.
And this particular resort did not admit Jews.
When she approached the desk clerk he made it plain.
“Sorry, no room. The hotel is full.”

Mrs. Rosenberg replied, “But the sign outside says” Vacancy.”

The clerk began to stutter a bit, but finally he said sternly,
“You know we do not allow Jews to stay here.
Now why don’t you go to the other side of town?”

Mrs. Rosenberg decided instantly to not let it go that easily.
She said, “I’ll have you know, young man, I converted to Christianity.”
“Yeah, right,” said the clerk. “So, tell me how Jesus was born.”

Without a seconds hesitation Mrs. Rosenberg said,
“He was born to a virgin named Mary in a little town called Bethlehem.”
“Okay,” said the clerk. “But you have to tell me more.”
“He was born in a manger.”
“Okay,” the clerk responded, “but why was he born in a manger?”

“Because said Mrs. Rosenberg, tired of the game,
“at the hotel in Bethlehem a jerk like you wouldn’t
give a Jewish lady a room for the night!”
