December 1, 2008

Manchester College President, Jo Young Switzer, reflects on the month of December in an email. She notes that this can be a tough season for a healthy perspective. She adds these thoughts:

Ironically, the event over 2000 years ago that transformed the month of December forever reflected profound perspective. Mary and Joseph had taxes to pay, and they made plans to pay them. They were in an untenable position with a pregnancy, no money, no plan and so they found a barn where they could rest and then welcome their new child. They did not have riches, but they had enough. A healthy little baby, swaddling clothes. It was enough.

For many good reasons, it is hard to keep perspective and to know what’s enough.

Thanks Jo.
