Porch Talk

"People really want community. That's part of what my new book, `Porch Talk,' is about. I've been contemplating how architectural styles affect community. I grew up in a house with a huge front porch and every house in my neighborhood had one. Everybody was oriented toward their neighbors. Television and different architecture killed that. That's what church should be doing now. We've killed community; it no longer comes naturally to us. Maybe the church can fill that void."
