Interview Question

The pastoral candidate was sitting around the table with members of the Search Committee and the District Executive. Introductions had been made and the District Executive explained to the candidate that they would begin with questions that the search committee had for the candidate. The chair of the search committee then turned to the pastoral candidate, "We have a list of ten questions to ask you, or if you prefer we can ask just one difficult question. Which would you prefer?" The candidate thought for a moment and replied: "I will take the one difficult question."

"All right. Which came first: Day or night?"

"Day," replied the candidate.

"And why is that?" asked the search committee chair.

"I'm sorry," replied the pastoral candidate, "I only agreed to answer one difficult question."
