Training Teachers

I'm reminded of the day that my first grade teacher, Miss W, brought her bow & arrow to school. Now she had told us stories of bears - Momma, Papa, and baby - and she had told us stories of the big, bad wolf, and of the little chicken who thought the world was coming to an end and the sky was falling; so maybe we should not have been surprised that she brought a weapon to school to protect us.

She even managed to get us involved in this protection scheme.  At recess we went out to the baseball field where she shot her bow and arrow at the bears, wolves, etc. which she apparently saw in the distance...and then sent us running to drag the dead creatures across the baseball field.

Did I mention that this was her last year of teaching?
