Manchester Spartans traveling
to New Mexico to play former
MC Coach Alford’s Division I Lobos

On Saturday, Nov. 6, Coach Steve Alford will see the Manchester College Spartans from a different perspective – as an opponent. The former NBA, Olympics and Indiana University basketball star nowadays is coaching the University of New Mexico Lobos, an NCAA Division I team.

But in media interviews, Alford is quick to remember his coaching beginnings, taking the MC Spartans to the Division III championships in 1995. He continues today to support the Spartans and Manchester College, and, on Nov. 6, his Lobos will host the Spartans in an exhibition match in Albuquerque. Tip-off is 8 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.

The Spartans have a tremendous year ahead, predicts Head Coach Brad Nadborne. “This year’s team should be one of the best in the nation, with our top seven players returning from a 17-10 season."

The New Mexico Lobos finished last season 30-5 as No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
